I mean a few days ago, I received a ticket for driving without a seat belt, even though I was wearing it. I put the cross strap under my arm so it will not cut into my neck. But this prevented the officer from seeing it, and trying to explain this was like talking to a post.
When I paid the ticket, the fine was like $53, and all of the fees added onto it made the total $143.
Well, you can say what you want but you cannot convince me for a second that they are really that concerned about your safety in this great state of Texas.
You can ride a motorcycle in P.E. shorts, and no helmet at all. (Which pretty much guarantees you will be maimed or killed.) Now if this was really a big safety issue, I feel that they would not have repealed, yes repealed the motorcycle helmet law a few years ago. Guess there weren’t enough bucks for fines on that. But the Seat Belt law is a gold mine. Even though they have no business telling me what to do in my own car!.

It really depends on the age of the bike and on the brand of the bike (one BMW rider one time told me that his K75 was only broken in after 75k miles, at that time he had more than 150k miles on that bike and engine).
I think it’s more important for what kind of riding the bike was used. A lot of short trips will put much more wear on a bike than a few long trips (even when the mileage of the long trips bike is larger than of the short trips bike).
Another consideration is how often a bike has been used. I think if the bike is standing still most of the time unless some preventive measures are taken (e.g. drip charging, change oil before using the bike again after long period of not riding, make sure the tank is full before putting the bike away so no rust can form, etc) the bike could be in worse condition than a bike that’s been ridden frequently. Obviously the hardly used bike would have a low mileage.
All depends how well the bike has been maintained.

I really want to ride a motorcycle, preferably Ninja 250, Or a yamaha TZR 50.
Probably a 50cc one though.

I;m looking at a Snell approved motorcross helmet that is $80. It is also DOT approved, does this mean that I can use it for street riding too or not. Why are there some helmets that are $500 and more? I am mostly worried about safety but maybe spending more will get me…. ???? Thanks

my theory is that half of them feel their masculinity is being threatened and some others think…ohh baby ride this! am i right?

I have recently got my motorbike “L’s” and invested in a motorbike, i’m having a lot of fun learning how to ride it but my biggest challenge is finding neutral again when I stop.
Is there such a thing as a gear finder (like what is displayed in a car) to let me know which gear i’m in?
I try to count them as I ride but it gets confusing when trying to concentrate on all the other things too!
