my g/f lives in holland and has kindly offered me her motorbike how do i register it in uk and will i have to pay any vat on it i know a new bike you have pay tax to uk govt

I am thinking of getting a small 50cc bike or scooter just to get me to and from town.What kind of tests would i have to go through before i could register the bike? I do not have any kind of driving licence,so what would i need to do.Answers from the U.K only please!

its a rmr 125cc motocross, has indicators/headlights/horn etc.

Recently bought a new bike (Chineese import) and the dealers are handling all the registration bit for me. It’s now gone two weeks and I still have no bike nore registration details from the DVLA. Please advice on lenght of time of process needed. I have since sighned a V5C document (i think that is what it was), was told that it was for the log book.
Exact detail on the process would be much appreaciated, as this might enable me to better understand the lenght of time. Thanks.
