Difference Between A Motorcycle And A Motorbike?

Harley Davidson is a motorcycle and everything else is a bike

How Can I Convince My Parents To Let Me Buy A Motorcycle?

I want a small bike, nothing powerful and definitely not a sports bike. I am 17 and three months away from my eighteenth birthday. I could just wait until then except that it would really piss my parents off and I need their help paying for insurance. For the next eight years, every cent I make is going to have to go to food and my education. They were willing to pay the insurance if I bought a car, but not for a bike, even though it would cost less (I have gotten insurance quotes). I am perfectly willing to pay for the bike and all my safety equipment myself. I have no desire to die and have told them I will wear full gear every time I ride. I have never gotten into an accident while driving a car, or gotten a ticket, or even gotten pulled over. I have a 4.0 GPA and have spent months researching this. I have told them I will take the MSF course, but still they say no. Any advice?

How Do I Convince My Parents To Let Me Get A Motorcycle?

-I’m 17
-The bike is a GSX R-600
-I’ll pay for the bike
-I’ll pay for insurance
-Yes, I have a job that’ll pay for them both
-I’ll wear a helmet
-I’ll wear other saftey gear
-I’ll take safety courses
-I’ll ride in clear weather
-I have alternate car, so i don’t want any replys about it controling my life
-I won’t drive with my “Raging Teenage Emotions”
-I won’t drive over the speed limit… even though many of you will say that… because dring a bike fast pretty much endangers me only…
-And the only reason I picked this bike over smaller ones is because I like the look… if I wanted a faster one, I would have been trying to convince my parents for a GSX R-1000

Do You Wear A Helmet When You Ride Your Motorcycle?

Just curious if you wear your helmet when you ride? I’m pretty good about safety, always wear my helmet and riding jacket. Only time I don’t is if my gf and I are going for a ride out on some back country roads with no cars and I have her on back I’ll normally not wear it but otherwise I always do. Just curious if others do and also curious if your state has a helmet law, mine, illinois, doesn’t.

Could I Legally Use A Yellow Headlight On A Motorcycle In The Uk?

I saw a really good suggestion in a letter in MCN last week…
Yellow lights are easier to spot than white and stand out from the rest, making a bike easier to spot among the cars. I think from a safety point of view it’s an excellent suggestion and I’m keen to try it, but would I be breaking any rules?

How Can I Buy A Motorcycle Without My Mother Knowing?

Okay, I can only imagine all the obnoxious comments that I will get from asking this question so before everybody gets angry, please just read the whole thing :)
I am a sophomore in college (in Pennsylvania) and live in an apartment five hours away from my ‘place of residence’ that is on my drivers license.
I have already taken the MSF course and have gotten the license. And don’t worry, I have the necessary safety gear and am planning on spending a few weeks in a parking lot before hitting the roads :) I’m still saving up because of lots of other bills to pay :(
The problem I have is with registering the bike. I don’t want to have stuff sent to my permanent residence because my mother will flip ****! (She didn’t let me drive a car until I was over 17.) My father know about the license but he isn’t too keen on the idea either. I only told him in case of legal trouble (like if I do get hurt).
I have also researched insurance and since I have never bought a vehicle before, I have looked into all the information about title transferring. I can’t change my place of residency because I live with a few other people (to save money) and I am not responsible for receiving and paying bills. Plus, being in college I am planning on having a different apartment next year.
I am a responsible person but my mother is very paranoid since I’m the last child. So any tips you guys can give me would be much appreciated :)

Convincing Family Its Ok To Get A Motorcycle?

I recently started a new job workin from home and won’t need to do much driving – just to college and to my girlfriends house. I would like to sell my car and purchase a bike – my car is soon to be due for some COSTLY maitenance – clutch, timing belt, radiator.. I would much rather avoid this and sell it as I would be paying 200 a month for insurance for a vehicle I barely drove.
I would be saving money on gas and insurance by doing this.. As well as the 1000+ on labor and parts for that maitenance
What I would like to know is how I can convince the people around me that its a good idea.. I don’t need anyones approval to get it but everyone around me is against it for safety reasons – how can I convince them its not as dangerous as they think?
I want to get like a 650cc sportbike and I would have full protective gear when I rode.
I would also like to know what you consider a good brand for bikes – my price range is 5000 to 8000 for a new bike.. I can go to a smaller engine if its too expensive
The car I want to sell is a 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gs, 115k miles, some performance upgrades and a system w DVD player

I Found A Hole In The Frame Of My Motorcycle What Should I Do?
