How Do You Clean A Visor On A Motorbike Helmet?
Don’t use glass cleaner. The visor isn’t glass, and glass cleaner will damage it.
When we’re on the road, I keep a small can of Plexxus in my tank bag, along with a microfiber cloth. This works great, and never leaves streaks.
At home, I have very good luck with warm water on a microfiber cloth. Wipe on the water, let it sit a minute, then wipe off gently.
I don’t use soap, some soaps can leave a film you won’t see until you’re riding.
What Is The Cheapest You Can Get A Kevlar Motorbike Helmet For?
The main consideration when buying a helmet is not what it is made out of but how it fits your head. That being said…
NEVER EVER BUY A HELMET YOU HAVE NOT GONE TO A SHOP AND TRIED ON AND WALKED AROUND IN THE STORE WITH IT ON FOR AT LEAST 20 OR 30 MINUTES!!!
How a helmet fits your head is the single most important thing when buying one. Different manufacturers use different shapes for the inside of their helmets and this effects how it fits you head.
Go to http://webbikeworld.com and check out all their helmet reviews and informational sections on helmets and moto gear. Huge sight with a lot of resources.
But when it comes to safety, remember that a more expensive helmet does not mean it is more safe. It probably just means that it is put together better and will be more comfortable and last longer. All helmets sold in the USA have to be DOT approved which means they pass a minimum safety requirement. Some, not all, but some helmets in the USA are also Snell certified which means they pass the DOT testing and another ‘higher’ form of testing that the Snell foundation does.
However, there is a huge debate right now weather Snell is actually better for you or not. The short version is that the Snell tests make the helmet denser so it can pass a certain test that Snell has where the helmet gets hit very hard in the same spot TWICE with a heavy weight. To make a helmet pass this test, the EPS foam inside the helmet has to be denser then in a non-Snell helmet. Unfortunately, this denser foam may make the helmet less safe in a normal crash where you hit your head hard once, or multiple times in different locations.
There is a good link to helmet info and this Snell debate here…http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/gearbo…
Hope all this helps.
