What Simple Modifications Provide More Speed From A Motorbike?
Every dumb kid on here will tell you to get a $60 air filter, a $300 noisemaker/muffler, and rejet.
These things will take a 250 four stroke with 21 hp and give it 23 hp.
My advice is FORGET IT. Learn to ride it the best you can and make sure its got the BEST BRAKES you can put on it.
Save up your pennies. Then buy a bigger, more powerful bike. By the time you’ve done this a few times, you will be riding a Hayabusa (or a Boss Hoss) and if you feel you need to turbocharge THAT, well you won’t need our advice anymore.
Adding more power to a bike engine is NOT a simple procedure. If you don’t know what you are doing you will create holes in the torque curve, which will make the bike feel like it is stuttering up the revs. If you were to somehow, miraculously, gain significant horsepower and still have a smoothly responding engine, then you would find the new power overwhelming the rest of your bike and you can start upgrading the suspension, wheels & tyres, fitting steering dampers. It gets expensive. It blows your warranty and it makes routine maintenance a nightmare.
Just buy a bigger bike, OK?
If you need a higher top speed, a larger FRONT sprocket will provide that. If you want quicker off the line acceleration a smaller FRONT sprocket will do that. It’s the easiest mod you can do.
Messing around trying to get the right jets to work with the intake and exhaust mods will be hard to do and you might not ride for a while until you get it back to running right.
change air filter for a k and n and either change the silencer or just rip out the insides ie baffles etc of yours this will give much more airflow in the engine therefore increasing power if its a road bike go with the race exhaust option as no baffles = no mot.
you may need to adjust the mixture slightly to compensate for the extra air by putting a bit more fuel in.
anothe good way is source a carb off a similar model but larger engine and fit that most will fit but check first for example on a bandit 600 we did the above and fitted some carbs off a gsxr and the thing is noticabley quicker
to get further power you will need to source a local engineering company who will be able to bore your current engine and fit a big bore kit.
The biggest improvement I’ve found by far is to improve your skills. I’ve done quite a few track days (instructional), and the skills I’ve learned have made me appreciate my bike more than I thought possible.
My bike with older suspension (next thing I’d do to improve performance) and less horsepower has flat out smoked newer, lighter, much more powerful bikes with less experienced riders.
33bhp can be entertaining if you can get the most out of them – good luck.
smaller rear sprocket will reduce acceleration but will greatly improve top speed, get a uni air filter so the bike will breath better or just take off the air filter but dont get caught in the rain
-exhaust
-jet kit
-intake
Those are the simple things.
Bigger sprocket for top end smaller one for more acceleration
