How To Adjust The Idle On My Motorbike?
I have a zx9r B1 and i have adjusted the idle as far out as it goes but the engine stll idles at around 1800, is there somewhere on the carbs for me to lower this?

in the carb theres a cylinder and on the cylinder theres a needle which normally has 5 settings move it so the needle is further into the carb and then try it
Improperly adjusted throttle cables can hold the idle up – not letting the carbs close.
There must be “free play” in the cables.
Free play means the throttle (hand grip) can be turned before any tension is applied to the throttle cables.
The next possibility would be the carbs need to be synchronized.
If one cylinder is running faster than the other three, that can hold the idle up.
If your idle adjuster is wound right out,and its still idling too fast, chances are you have an air leak between the carbs and inlet tracts. Correct tickover speed is about 1250 rpm. A good carb balance would probly help setting up the tickover.
My CBR idles around there as well, that’s very standard, why do you want it lower? If you’re shooting for around 1200 or so, then enjoy the cold mornings when your bike will refuse to start.
As far as I know, the only way to really mess with engine idle speeds is to adjust the throttle cable at the fuel injector.
