Luke D. is right. The next time you feel like stretching the truth provide a source… Obama was always a member of the Democratic party. Of course, if you provided a source in this matter it would have contradicted your premise.
You should really research stuff like this better.
(And a source from a credible and objective source… not a right-wing anti-Obama blog)

The New Party simply endorsed Obama, he was not technically a member. It was just something to help him get his seat, as any politician would go for. The party was short-lived and had little influence anyway.
P.S. “Obama wears combat sandals”…your source is ludicrous. Its a highly conservative article with so much bias no credible journalist would consider that to be worth reading. Good try, though.
P.S.S Yes, I wasn’t talking about endorsing now. I’m talking about back in 1996…they only endorsed him. The party only lasted until 1998, also. He was not a member. He was a member of the Democratic Party. The only thing saying he was a member of the New Party is conservative blogs: surprise, surprise.

From what I’ve been able to research the Socialist “New Party” simply evolved into the more acceptable “main stream” Democratic Party. They carried their same ideals, their same concepts and their same political ambitions with them. They just wore different cloaks and hats.
That’s the trouble today with so many in this country! They’re so ignorant to the ways of politicians. They don’t know that Franklin Roosevelt was a Republican but changed to a Democrat to win the Presidency… And he’s gone down as the Greatest President in American History!!
So you just never know what’s behind your candidates party ties!!

I was just thinking about some of my people who fought so hard in the coal mining wars, & in other occupations, to get the unions in years ago when they were so desperately needed. They were called Socialists!! I’m so proud of them and always will be. If they were really Socialists then I don’t think Obama fits that bill!

I didn’t need this info to know barry was a socialist. Makes sense his connection with Ayres, dont you think? Both have strong socialist/communist upbringings & stances. Both practices undermining American priniciples & seek strong central gov’t control.

Yes, he was a member of the New Socialist Party in the 1990’s. He only changed to Democrat to get on a major party’s ticket.
For those that say it doesn’t matter, please tell me WHY Obama conveniently forgot to mention this?

Once again Miss Kitty you piqued my interest. Thanks. After a few Google reports, I find that Barry’s early socialist/communist learning & mentoring by Frank Marshall Davis paid off by getting this New Party support you mentioned.
It would seem the Democrat party is actually the party of Socialists, of which I find more proof every day.
BHO was born to a communist backer, brought up by socialist/communist, ran successfully for office under a socialist banner & now, despite the moniker of Democrat, is STILL a socialist.
What scares me is so much support for him by people that know this. Does that mean the majority in the US are now Socialists?
