my g/f lives in holland and has kindly offered me her motorbike how do i register it in uk and will i have to pay any vat on it i know a new bike you have pay tax to uk govt

Well basically the story is, i’ve got a 600cc motorbike in my back garden which i really like but don’t want to sell.
so what i’m thinking to do is to restrict it to a 125cc bike, now i know that it will ruin the bike over time but i honestly don’t mind that. But the other thing i want to know is that how much would it cost on insurance for a 17 year old, if they would insure someone on that type of motorbike

Yeah im 16 and i know my max is 50cc and then at 17 its 125cc if i do my tests and stuff BUT what i want to know is when i can finally ride a 250cc motorbike.
I have high goals for my biking future lol

try chrome polish it won’t leave scratches and it protects the chrome

You will know when it’s time. It will seem to be low on power, and will stumble at higher rpms or seem to run out of power at high rpms.

When you take your licence, do the longest course you can afford prior to taking your test to give you maximum experience on the bigger bikes.
My local test centre uses cbf500s which are pretty heavy and you need to be pretty competent on a 125 before they will let you use the 500s. Most of the bike school machines are tourers and do not have the same grunt as a sportsbike, so bear that in mind after passing your test as its one thing to ride a cbf500, and another to have a go on something like a cbr600, r6 etc.
As long as you can ride the larger bike safely and have good control when riding at slow speed, you should be fine.
The bike test is going to change in March and become a lot harder and more expensive, so try to book yourself in as soon as you can.
Kit yourself out with the best helmet and protective gear you can, you cant put a price on your life!
Before buying a new bike, make sure you can fit comfortably on it with your feet able to touch the ground, because most new riders will take a spill at some point and youll need to be able to either stabilize the bike or at worse, be strong enough to pick it up from the floor!

Is it a two stroke or four stroke dirt or street if it is a two stroke sounds like you are running it a little lean that could be the rattle you are hearing and the cause of the power loss. A little tweaking of the carb. should solve that problem. Now if it is a four stroke sounds like the carb. needs to be cleaned to me and the rattle could still be from carb ajustment it is called valve chatter and you can adjust the carb. for that also. Hope this helps
